Discovering Shiatsu

I came across Shiatsu when I was training to be a yoga teacher. After going through a period of stress and illness. I had been diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia and depression and had struggled with all this and stress from work all compounded to leave me with incredibly low levels of energy where I felt exhausted all the time and I just wanted to go to sleep. I began to feel better from doing a regular yoga practise and learnt about the healing power of working with the energy body. Another yoga teacher suggested that I look at Shiatsu as a form of healing work as this works with the meridian lines, energy lines from Chinese medicine. I found a practitioner and I was hooked and I felt i needed to share this amazing form of healing and so began training with the Shiatsu College.
There is a pulse and a rhythm to every cell in your body you can learn how to communicate with the vibrations of your body to amplify your healing power and increase your energy naturally. With the recent discovery of the second largest organ of the body, the interstitium, which sits below the top layer of the skin, helps to explain why holistic medicine like Shiastu and acupuncture can be so effective.(see Scientific reports, 2018;8:4947 for more information)

What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person - not just with the physical body, but also with the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being. You are fully clothed and the treatment is given lying on the floor. Gentle pressure is used to work along the meridian lines ( the bodies energy lines), acupressure points and joints and muscles to release any tension in the body and to enable your energy to come back into balance. I use an infrared heated mat which helps the body to relax even more deeply. It's a wonderful relaxing and soothing treatment. £30 FOR A 45 MINUTE TREATMENT.
